Leaders
Institute Brochure 2001
If one room could hold the hope for Russian
democracy, it was assembled in a Washington, DC auditorium
on March 9, 2001, where Secretary of State Colin Powell
addressed the newly formed Russian Leaders Institute (RLI).
RLI emerged as an outgrowth of 3,000 Russian entrepreneurs
who previously had completed training in companies across
America. Inspired by their US experience, they began transplanting
US business ideas, Rotary clubs, PTAs, credit unions,
and associations of entrepreneurs to Russian soil.
In the process, these US-trained Russian entrepreneurs
became local leaders in their cities and regions.
