Facilities:

All technical facilities (projectors, computers, video sets) are available during the conference for a presentation of papers.

 

 

FIELD EXCURSIONS

Half-a-day field excursion by a helicopter to Koida tundra (~ 200 km to the North-East of Arkhangelsk )

is planned to be organized. Permafrost-affected peat plateaus, palsas, strongly cryoturbated permafrost-free soils and Gelic subunits of soils should be shown.

THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS IS LIMITED (15 PERSONS ONLY - FIRST GOES FIRST) AND THE BOOKING OF THE PLACES SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE DECEMBER, 31, 2004 FOR PERMISSION FORMALITIES.

 

3-days bus excursion for the most extremely karstified boreal region in the world - Pinega (~200 km travel to the East of Arkhangelsk) will be organized.

Perennial underground ice and a lithogenic set of widespread and unique cold boreal soils (on Quaternary sandy and loamy materials and on ancient substrates - hard gypsum, limestone, red-colored rocks) will be shown.

 

 

The accommodation will be in a small comfortable hotel "Golubino" having all facilities (hot water, etc.).

Arkhangelsk is a peaceful 420-years old city in the Russian European North having the population of 300,000 and connected by every-day flights with Moscow (1.5-hour flight). The city has a scientific center and a comfortable Purnavolok hotel - www.purnavolok.ru


Field trips:
August 4-7, 2005:

1) Half-a-day field trip to tundra of Koida vicinities (15 persons) (helicopter)
2) 3-days field trip to boreal karst region of Pinega (bus)

 

CONFERENCE FEES:
Participation in a 2-day meeting in Arkhangelsk - 180 ˆ
Participation in the field trip to Koida tundra by helicopter - 200 ˆ
Participation in the 3-days field trip to Pinega karst region by bus - 180 ˆ

Fee covers the following:
conference materials; coffee, etc.; full service during field trips.

Participation of students in the conference is free of charge and in field excursion to Pinega is with 50% discount

The conference fee for soil scientists from countries having special treatments with Dokuchaev Soil Science Society (e.g. Poland) is 90 ˆ

 

A registration participant form should be sent to the Organizing Committee before December 1, 2004.

 

The Second announcement, including the key-note speakers, format for abstracts, details of payment of registration fees etc. will be sent after receiving the registration participant forms.

Abstracts:

The tentative deadline for submission of 1-page abstracts in English is April, 15, 2005
